General Info
In partnership with Virginia Cooperative Extension, the AgrAbility Virginia project provides direct education and on-site assistance to farmers and farm workers with disabilities, as well as their family members. The project offers information on modification/adaptation of farm equipment and operations, farmstead accessibility, and assistive technology. AgrAbility staff seeks to provide the information and connection to resources that will allow farmers to continue their rural lifestyle. AgrAbility Virginia also offers a Peer Support Network that matches people in Virginia who have had similar experiences. The AgrAbility Virginia project is a statewide program.
Professional Info
We accept referrals to the AgrAbility program from farmers, farm workers, family members, healthcare professionals and rural services agencies. Upon referral, the referred individual will be contacted and an intake will be arranged. We will assess the needs and challenges faced by the individual and work to develop a plan that will outline goals and the steps to achieve those goals. We work closely with other rural and rehabilitative service agencies in identifying available assistance that can help the individual succeed in reaching goals.
